Joel 2:21 “Have no fear, O land; be glad with great joy; for the Lord has done great things.” (BBE)
As this year draws to a close and the new year awaits us, we should take a little time to reflect not on those things which did not go our way but rather on the positives. We as humans tend to default to the negative which only clouds out the good things we can take from the year and the lessons we have learnt from it.
Looking back allows us to chart the course forward, making sure that we make the adjustments for the future and what awaits us in there. The Scripture in Joel tells us to be glad with great joy for the LORD has done GREAT things. Again, the Psalmist, King David, in Psalms 23:6 says it so beautifully, “Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (NIV)
There have been some necessary changes to the way we, as Fuzion, will in future function. Some of these changes have been needed to be made to ensure that Fuzion complies with government policies in South Africa, and possibly beyond.
In early 2023 a team from Fuzion, including myself, visited another Bible College in Cape Town. We had the privilege of meeting the director who graciously welcomed us and shared how their ministry has globally been so successful. It was from this meeting that the Lord revealed that we as a ministry should adopt their model. The question I needed to answer as the visionary leader of Fuzion was this: Is Fuzion Bible Institute an Educational Institute or a Training Institute?
Prayerfully I considered this question, and I knew beyond doubt that Fuzion is a Training Institute. Our primary focus over the years moved more towards an Educational Institute and this impacted the vision of the ministry. The primary focus was always on training and equipping believers to impact the nations with the Gospel of the Kingdom. It could be said that the policies of the government forced us as a ministry to reevaluate our priorities. Yes, God can even use the Babylonian systems of the world to challenge His church. So, with this Fuzion’s primary focus has shifted towards being a Training Institute, which offers certificate-only programs outside the USA. Once the decision was made the team began structuring the ministry to the new model which will be launched in 2024.
In 2023 we saw the launching of two new campuses, one in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, and the other in Angelo, Gauteng. Later in the year Dr Tracy Botha relocated from South Africa to Fort Pierce in Florida, USA, to set up a new campus there, whereby we had 37 new student enrollments.
The Operations Team worked tirelessly this year to ensure that the face of Fuzion reflects excellence and professionalism. The many hours as well as meetings have ensured that Fuzion is preparing for a bright future and expansion.
On a sad note, we lost one of our generals in the faith, Dr Reuben Munsamy, who passed away on 13th March of this year. Dr Reuben served as our Chief Financial Officer with excellence and faithfulness. His passing left a huge hole in the ministry as his wisdom and counsel was an ever-present security for the ministry.
As we close out this year, let each one of us take time to reflect on the important things in life, such as our walk with the Lord, our family, our friends and our destiny. Purpose to spend time with your loved ones over this Christmas season. Use the holiday season to rest, recharge and refresh your lives. Go have that cup of coffee with the friend you promised or take a long walk on the beach with your loved ones, sleep in, and enjoy the moment. Psalm 62:1 “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.”
Finally, on behalf of myself and Fuzion I want to wish you and your family a very Merry & Blessed Christmas. May this season be filled with joy, peace and unwavering hope.
Dr. Colin Blom
